Business Continuity is the series of activities that enable the continuity of all services and functions which are provided by an organization for its customers, employees and vendors. These activities include routine daily tasks like project management, system backup, change control, and help desk. Business continuity is not only about disaster management but is also related to continuous accessibility, consistency and recoverability of the mentioned daily tasks. Basis of Business Continuity is the policies which are strengthened by procedures and guidelines consistent to regulations to keep the business going. All tasks like design, implementation, support and maintenance should be realized according to these policies. The term “Business Continuity” is often misused to define disaster recovery whereas disaster recovery is a sub area of business continuity.Business Continuity Planning (BCP) defines the methodologies that will be used while Business Continuity defines howtos and methodology.
